Poppies are shown in a file photo.

For the Poppy Campaign, we have been advised by the Simcoe-Muskoka Health Unit that we should not go forward with Canvassers but to rely on the Poppy boxes that some retail stores agree to place near their checkout locations. In the past, the Cadet Corps and Legion Members as well as Veterans have stood in front of stores for many hours.

As such, we are trying to get the message out to the Barrie Public about the need to fill the boxes that are left behind. All the monies from the Poppy Campaign goes back to support Veterans and Veteran families in need. We also use the monies to assist organizations that help our Veterans and in support of the Cadet Corps in our community.
